About Me

Dr. Edwanna Andrews has worked in student affairs for the past 17 years as an academic advisor, assistant director of leadership development, and now serves as the inaugural Director of Social Justice and Advocacy at the University of Central Florida. Edwanna leads a remarkable team comprised of LGBTQ+ Services and the Multicultural Student Center. In her current role she works with students, faculty, and staff to create purposeful action that sustains an equitable and inclusive campus environment. Edwanna serves on a variety of university committee’s that are committed to equity, inclusion, and diversity efforts. Additionally, Edwanna is an active member in national higher education organizations, such as NASPA, ACPA, and the Consortium of Higher Education LGBT Resources Professionals. She also serves on the National Advisory Council for the National Conference on Race and Ethnicity.

Serving as an adjunct instructor since 2006, has afforded Edwanna the experience to teach students of various levels, develop new courses and curriculum, teach a variety of subjects, collaborate with other faculty, and contribute to the development of a textbook. In an effort to always better herself as an instructor, Edwanna constantly evaluates her teaching (through student feedback and evaluations) and seeks mentorship and feedback from senior faculty members. Edwanna’s relationship with her students is a treasured journey that she looks forward to developing each semester. As such she takes a personal interest in developing an active and engaging learning environment where students can enhance their critical thinking skills, learn in an intellectually diverse classroom, and have a collaborative learning experience.  Edwanna teaches undergraduate courses in Sociology, Interdisciplinary Studies, and Strategies for Success.

Edwanna is a three-time graduate of the University of Central Florida earning a Bachelor’s degree in Advertising and Public Relations, Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, and a Ph.D. in Sociology. She is also a proud member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.
